In 1999, I got the opportunity to work as an Asha employee. I earned a wage Rs.300 monthly, which went completely towards supporting my family of 5. Because 2015, I have been a core group member of COROs Single Women programme, in Marathwada. The association assists single ladies stand up to social preconception, declare their privileges and lead an independent life. The journey from child bride to teen mother, survivor of abuse and abject poverty, to a supporter of womens issues, has actually not been simple.

This is how I encountered COROs grassroots leadership advancement programme (GLDP) where I started mobilising women to take up management roles in regional self government, arranging and coordinating conferences, helping regional communities fix concerns and problems around provision supplies and restriction of alcohol.
