On January 9, 2023, we lost Gerda, a 97-year-old outspoken and inspiring speaker/activist. As a teenager, Gerdas nerve (Yiddish for boldness, audacity) contributed considerably to her survival. A self-proclaimed “mischief-maker,” Gerda took risks to conserve her and her siblings lives.
“When youre 16 and you have nothing to lose, you just do whatever pertains to your mind.”
