Cooper was imprisoned for nearly 20 hours on suspicion of bring a concealed weapon without an authorization and breaking a curfew, however he was never ever charged, the problem says. The suit states Cooper was jailed even though he had a CNN press credential and a valid authorization to carry a concealed firearm, and even though journalists were exempt from the curfew enforced throughout the unrest.Coopers arrest followed the arrest of a Black CNN reporter at the demonstrations one day earlier.”We disagree with the accusations and look forward to presenting the truths in court,” said Bruce Gordon, a spokesperson for the state Department of Public Safety, which consists of the State Patrol.Contrasting with the suits accusations, Trooper Patrick Kelly wrote in 2 field reports that Cooper had no qualifications on him to prove that he was working for CNN, nor a permit to carry a weapon, and that there were no electronic cameras or news team members nearby.
