OCEAN CITY, Md.– Beachgoers ran for cover on the Fourth of July when a fireworks display detonated early.
Authorities said the surge happened while employees were establishing for Sunday nights fireworks reveal. One employee with the fireworks business suffered small injuries. Authorities stated no one else was harmed. “Our fire marshals are on the scene and will examine the reason for the unintended discharge,” Ocean City Fire Chief Richie Bowers stated in a declaration published on Facebook. “Prior to the fireworks being off packed from the lorry, fire marshals protect a safe zone around the fireworks and put other security protocols in place. It is this really zone and safety protocols that kept anybody else from being hurt.”Fire marshals are looking into what triggered the fireworks to detonate prematurely.The Ocean City July 4th event was canceled after the mishap.
