Flight 538 from Denver was reaching the airport at about 10:30 p.m. when the incident took place, Micah Lillard of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority stated.
The A320 Airbus had actually landed prior to dropping in a grassy area off the end of Runway 1. A Frontier Airlines representative said 151 travelers and 6 crewmembers were on board. Travelers left the aircraft utilizing its stairs and were bused to the terminal around midnight.
Guest Samuel Rodier informed WTOP that the flight was postponed in arriving to D.C. As the plane prepared to land at the airport, he said it boiled down quickly and “a little bit hot,” which made it harder to slow down.
” It was a little bit scary for the traveler beside me; this is their first time flying,” Roider stated. “So it was a little bit frightening. We had to like get the seat in front of us since of all the shaking and the haltering.”.
Once the aircraft was able to securely stop, the team and pilot kept guests updated on what was going on, Rodier stated. He thanked everybody dealing with the aircraft for all their effort before and after the landing.
