The Society for Advancement of Academics, Sports and Cultural Activities (SAASCA), College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (CoBSH), PAU, Ludhiana, organized a lecture on Womens Health– Bridging the Gender Gap, provided by Dr Mandeep Kaur Chahal, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Mandeep Nursing Home, Ludhiana.
She looked into the topics of cervical cancer, need for PAP smear and HPV vaccine, self-breast examination, menopausal concerns, contraception, and so on. Dr Chahal highlighted the taboos regarding communication on such topics and tips to remove them. She laid special focus on sensitising males folk about women health and urged them to shun indifference towards problems of women.
Dr Chahal has earlier served at the SPS Apollo Hospital, Janta Charitable Hospital, Beas Hospital and Pahwa Hospital. She has actually been conducting routine workshops to generate awareness about femaless health.
Dr Sandeep Bains, Dean PGS, while administering over the event, praised the speaker for highlighting on the role of men with respect to females health that would enhance prognosis of a wide variety of women health issue like breast cancer, malnutrition, morbidity, maternal health, reproductive rights, HIV/AIDS, etc.
She even more added that in order to properly enhance the health of women in India, several dimensions of wellness should be analyzed in relation to worldwide health averages and likewise in comparison to males in India.
Dr Shammi Kapoor, Dean CoBSH, in his remarks, narrated certain anecdotes that exposed the taboos connected with ladiess health problems. He said that more such interactions were needed to produce awareness and make women feel more positive while talking about their health.
