May 28 is the International Day of Action for Womens Health.
For over 30 ladies, girls and years advocates and other partners have continued to take action and speak out for sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), which has actually led to the decrease in maternal death, child mortality, and unexpected pregnancy rates.
” 2019 marks the 25th year of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), wherein 179 governments embraced a groundbreaking Programme of Action (PoA) that recognized reproductive health and rights, along with femaless empowerment and gender equality”.
” Since the PoA adoption in Cairo in 1994, essential development has been accomplished for and by women such as the decline in maternal death, kid mortality, and unintended pregnancy rates; increased access to education, family preparation and competent presence at birth; increased worldwide contraceptive occurrence rates; and reduction of adolescent birth rates, to name a few”.
However, the statement expressed worry that the complete realization of femaless SRHR stays far from being attended to, as ladiess health has often been minimized to a restricted understanding of maternal health, neglecting the real requirements of all women in their varieties.
Adding that “substantial obstacles persist in terms of acknowledging sexual rights in addition to reproductive rights, guaranteeing universal access to contraceptives and legal and safe abortion, along with extensive sexuality education for young people, among other vital SRHR problems”.
The declaration emphasized, “This #May 28, we welcome and encourage our members, partners, and allies worldwide to Mobilize, Speak Out, and Take Action– lets stand together, belong to the movement and sign up with global efforts to demand, advance, and protect sexual and reproductive health and rights for all! Remind our governments that Womens Health Matters!”
