Anyhow, connection is not the only thing that changed on the Mate X2 4G. Huawei seized the day to preload Harmony OS 2.0 on the phone, rather of having it release with Android 10 as the 5G design did (which is among the first to get Harmony over the air).
Huawei has difficulty sourcing 5G components due to the trade war with the US, so the business has required to re-releasing a few of its existing 5G phones as 4G-only designs. The newest to take the plunge is the foldable Huawei Mate X2.
The 4G design went on sale in China for the very first time today at 10:08 local time. Besides dropping the 5G connectivity, the phone is almost unchanged – it still utilizes a Kirin 9000 chipset, for instance (the 4G version of it, anyway).
Its not just the collapsible phone either, a couple of days ago Huawei launched 4G variations of the Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40E and nova8 Pro, all of which originally started life as 5G phones with Android. Yes, the OS was switched for Harmony on these designs. They went up on store racks a few days back.
There is a small cost cut included too, though it barely makes a scratch on the CNY 17,800 cost of the Mate X2 5G. The 4G version expenses CNY 17,500 on Vmall, that converts to $2,710/ EUR2,275. The CNY 300 cost difference ($ 46 or so) isnt actually visible at this scale.

You can still order a Huawei Mate X2 4G from Chinese retailers, though shipping dates have slipped to July 11. Its unclear if any of these designs will be sold abroad.
