Issa Rae is getting in the Spider-Verse.
Rae, the star of HBOs acclaimed comedy-drama Insecure, has signed up with the voice cast of Sony Pictures Animations follow up to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be the credited authors on the job along with David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).
Lord and Miller are also back as manufacturers, as are Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Christina Steinberg. Alonzo Ruvalcaba is co-producing.
Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson are directing the sequel. Peter Ramsey, among the directors of the first motion picture, is returning as an executive manufacturer, together with Aditya Sood.
The follow up has a release date of Oct. 7, 2022.
