Notre Dame has landed a big dedication from Naples (Fla.) high school three-star defensive back Devin Moore. The class of 2022 recruit is the most recent possibility to promise to the Fighting Irish.
A 6-2, 175-pounder who can play both cornerback and safety at an exceptionally high level, Moore picked Notre Dame over an offer list that consists of Alabama, Cincinnati, Florida, Miami, Stanford, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Virginia Tech and many others across tech nation. Moore is ranked as the No. 26 security in the nation and No. 50 prospect in the state of Florida per 247Sports. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, hes the No. 30 skill at his position.
As a junior, Moore turned heads in the protective backfield. He acquired 24 deals with and 5 interceptions, while returning one for a score.
” He erased whoever he broke,” said Naples high school assistant coach Cliff Greer to Irish Illustrateds Kevin Sinclair earlier this spring. “These were (receivers) who are going to Florida, going to Auburn. They didnt capture the ball. At all. (laughs). You almost forget the kid is over there. He didnt get lots of picks because they didnt actually throw over there. And when they did, he got interceptions.
” Once he got on the field, it was natural for him. Theres absolutely nothing awkward about him,” Greer continued. When hes running with these kids that are supposed to be going to all these big-time schools, its like, man, he can remove half the field.
This is a big win for cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens, safeties coach Chris OLeary and defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman. Notre Dame made him a priority early during his process and all the tough work settled.
