That last tweet is from the same outlet that had the Pirates taking Jordan Lawlar No. 1, as recently as last week. Lawlar didnt go until No. 6 with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Dont fret. Im sure they got Mondays tweet right.
Pirates already have the # 4 ranked farm system in the MLB, have definitely nailed the draft and have Adam Frazier whos gon na bring in a lot more potential customers. Future is intense, very extremely brilliant. pic.twitter.com/JPg4As5vvz

Yup, the Pirates nailed the draft. They were wise to “go under slot” on the predicted finalizing benefit with Davis as the first-round choice. Why pay the most for the most proven prospect in the nation (Vanderbilt pitcher Jack Leiter), when you can pay a bit more for the 37th (Anthony Solometo), 64th (Lonnie White Jr.) and 72nd (Bubba Chandler) picks combined?
The Pirates broke it. Theyve got it figured out.
I suggest, I keep in mind when Jason Schmidt, Kris Benson and Bobby Bradley were supposed to be the top 3 of a playoff rotation.
Oh, I still have my “3-D bobblehead” of (Zach) Duke, (Chris) Duffy and (Ryan) Doumit sitting under my Cutch-Marte-Gregory Polanco “Dream Outfield” poster.
None of that past is prologue I presume, however, fix?
You see, this year its simply about the rankings of the draft. Its got nothing to do with how the skill is established.
Are you detecting my sarcasm? In the words of David Spade in “Tommy Boy,” “Good. Cause Im laying it on pretty thick.”
If the Pirates sign their top 4 picks in the draft and get an excellent return in regards to prospects for Adam Frazier, I dont believe its crazy to believe that their farm system might be the top ranked in baseball after this year.

The Pirates, Marlins, and Red Sox have absolutely hit home runs in the early part of this draft. Lots of choices to go, but a terrific start.

The @Pirates have made four choices so far.
Theyve taken 4 of the 32 best potential customers in the draft

Congratulations on the Pittsburgh Pirates clinching a 2027 World Series berth. Yup, the Pirates nailed the draft. The Pirates cracked it. Going with a strong-armed, heavy-hitting catcher with a clear path to the majors rather of throwing even more talent at the Pirates already crowded middle-infield system is a much better second choice.
I desire the Pirates to be excellent once again.

Great. What do top farm system rankings get you?
As much as NCAA recruiting rankings do. Steelers fans inform me they win the draft every year, and they have actually gone eight of the last 10 years without a playoff victory.
Look, if general manager Ben Cherington wants to expand the signing-pool cash, fine. Proceed.
I simply desired Leiter as the No. 1 choice instead of Davis. That stated, I chose Davis to Lawlar or fellow high school shortstop Marcelo Mayer. Opting for a strong-armed, heavy-hitting catcher with a clear path to the majors instead of tossing a lot more talent at the Pirates currently crowded middle-infield system is a better second choice.
What I do not understand is the presumption of success for a franchise that has actually made zero benefit-of-the-doubt points. What I cringe at are assessments that the Pirates were smart to hand down pitchers such as Leiter and Vanderbilt colleague Kumar Rocker.
However Solometo? Well, certainly “hes a steal.”
This is a club that prepares high simply about every year yet has actually made the playoffs a grand total of six times given that 1979. Knowing that, Im supposed to believe in their technique of keeping back cash to the finest possible possibility– i.e. Leiter, whom the Texas Rangers selected No. 2 instead of the home town kid Lawlar– in order to spread cash around to more options in hopes of a greater collective?
Due to the fact that their performance history is so darned great, I expect?
Those of us who are doubtful are labeled the dumb ones– for trusting our eyes on around three decades of history.
Please save this column for October 2027 or 2028. Subtweet it with a snarky “informed ya, so” before Game 1 in Boston against the Red Sox.
I want Baseball America and all the future prospectors to be. I want the Pirates to be great again.
Sadly, Ive made my cynicism and my desire for proof before I renew my faith in whatever process that group is preaching.
Heres the thing about the prospect-ranking crowd. Deep down within, they feel the exact same method. Which is why its easier to celebrate something that isnt made. Just commemorate a subjective ranking and a theoretical future that has yet to be determined. That way you can never ever lose.
Except on the field in the major league stadiums. Thats something we have seen for rather a while now.
See you at the 2022 draft when the Pirates may declare another title.
Congratulations on the Pittsburgh Pirates clinching a 2027 World Series berth. Okay, maybe 2028. Regardless, buy your tickets now!
By that point, all of the men the Pirates drafted in the first couple of rounds of this weeks 2021 Major League Baseball draft need to be with the major league club. Many of them will have to do with 24 years old.
Andrew McCutchen, Neil Walker, Gerrit Cole and Starling Marte were all around that age when they were contacted to the majors. They got to the playoffs together in 2013.
Sundays first-round pick, Louisville catcher Henry Davis, will be a little older. Hell be 27 or 28. Lets hope he is not traded yet. Sure, the likes of Cole, Jameson Taillon, Josh Bell and Joe Musgrove were all moved by approximately then. However itll be various for Davis.
. Hell be various. Of … course … he … will.
And this group of 2021 draft potential customers will be various, too.
At least, thats what the seamheads, Pirates optimists, Buccos diehards and MLB prospect-pimps insist.
The Pirates drafted their top ranked guy with Henry Davis and got a steal at 37 in Anthony Solometo – it just so happened that the companies three most significant needs got dealt with in those two choices (catcher, power bat, LHP). Could not request a better start to the draft for BC

When you finally see the BIG PICTURE of this years draft for the Pirates all of it makes sense. Henry Davis might not be the finest player in the draft but he was the very best for the Pirates and it also will allow them to sign their leading 4 picks @KDKA
