SANDWICH, England– If Brooks Koepka is asked, he appears ready to answer any ongoing concerns about Bryson DeChambeau.Koepka was asked once again Tuesday at The Open about their ongoing feud, and the four-time major winner said hes great keeping it going because DeChambeau went back on his word about an arrangement they had, so now hes “reasonable game.”Their distinctions were highlighted once again 2 months back when a taped interview of Koepka showing his disgust for DeChambeau was leaked and went viral. There has been a great little back and forth given that, all of it starting with Koepkas slow-play grievances about DeChambeau in 2019. Koepka stated the offer they made came throughout a conversation at the 2019 Northern Trust competition at Liberty National in Jersey City, New Jersey.”We had a conversation at Liberty, and he didnt hold up his end of the deal and I didnt like that, so Ill take my shots,” Koepka said.He then went on to explain how it failed.6 hBob Harig20hBob Harig5hESPN.com2 Related”He didnt like that I had mentioned his name in sluggish play, so we had a discussion in the locker room,” Koepka said. “And then I guess we said something else in journalism conference but didnt mention his name in it, and he strolled up to [Koepkas caddie] Ricky [Elliott], stated something. It was, You tell your male if hes got something to state, say it to myself. Due to the fact that he went straight to Ricky, I believed that was paradoxical. Ricky informed me when I came out, struck a couple of putts, and after that just walked right over to him, we had a conversation.”We both concurred we d leave each other out of it and wouldnt mention each other, simply sort of let it pass away off, wouldnt discuss each others names, simply go about it. Then he chose I guess he was going on that little, whatever, playing video games online [ on Twitch in which he made light of Koepka appearing in ESPNs The Body Issue] or whatever and brought my name up and stated a few things, so now its fair game.”DeChambeau also spoke on the matter on Tuesday.”He can state whatever he desires,”DeChambeau stated. “I believe he said something back at Liberty National not upholding something. I dont know what hes speaking about because regard. Maybe thats on me. Possibly I didnt. I actually do not remember anything about that. We just had a conversation that I actually dont understand what occurred, due to the fact that we havent actually bantered back and forth till now, so its like why is that happening now.”Besides that, Im just here to play golf and focus on that. If we desire to keep bantering back and forth, clearly being considerate and keeping lines where they arent getting crossed, yeah, I think its fun and an excellent environment for individuals in golf.”Koepka said there would be no problems with DeChambeau as a teammate at the Ryder Cup in September.”Its just a week,” he stated. “I can put it aside for service. If were going to be on the exact same team, I can handle anyone worldwide for a week. Im not playing with him. Im pretty sure were not going to be paired together; put it that method. I believe its kind of apparent.”It does not matter. I dont believe were going to be high-fiving and having late-night discussions. I do my thing, he does his thing. Yeah, were on the same group, however its not an issue at all. I do not view it as a concern. I do not believe he does.”Koepka, who is ranked 8th worldwide, has been in the leading 5 in three of his past 4 looks, including a tie for 2nd behind Phil Mickelson at the PGA Championship and a tie for fourth at the U.S. Open behind Jon Rahm.He got his first look at Royal St. Georges on Tuesday and was not extremely amazed.”Quite a couple of blind tee shots, kind of hitting to absolutely nothing,” Koepka stated. “Fairways are quite undulating. I do not know, its not my favorite of the [10-course] rotation, put it that method.” [But] I dont care whether I like the place, dont like it. Youve still got to play excellent and go strike the shots. Playing St. Andrews is probably my preferred location in the whole world to play. Portrush 2 years earlier was … I love that place. I believed that was simply such an excellent Open. A fun golf course to play. Actually delighted in that.”This one, its simply not as exciting. I dont understand why. Whether it be a couple shots to nothing, a couple blind tee shots or shots in where you cant actually see much. Im not too huge of a fan of that.”Koepka, 31, is making his seventh look at The Open, his last finish a tie for fourth in 2019 at Royal Portrush. He also tied for 6th in 2017 at Royal Birkdale.
